Someone who uses long sentences, may not have said everything.

Wer sich kurz faßt, muß nicht alles weggelassen haben.
Einer, der in langen Sätzen spricht, muß nicht alles gesagt haben.

Conversation means listening and replying.

Gespräch bedeutet Zuhören und Erwidern.

If a man is following you,
seek protection from someone else.
If a wild animal follows you,
hiding behind a tree is enough.

Verfolgt dich ein Mensch,
dann suche Schutz bei einem anderen.
Verfolgt dich ein wildes Tier,
genügt der Schutz hinter einem Baum.

Dad, dad baa loogu gabbadaa, dugaagna geed.


If the enemy fools me the first time,
may Allah take revenge for me;
does he fool me the second time,
then I am the only one to blame.

Täuscht mich zum ersten Mal der Feind,
so möge Allah mich rächen;
täuscht er mich zum zweiten Mal,
so bin ich allein schuld daran.

Mar i dage Allah ha dago,
mar labaad i dagese, anaa dagan.


In a conflict, do not seek advice from these two:
the coward and the exuberanted.

Steht ein Krieg bevor, ziehe beide nicht zu Rate:
den Feigen und den Übermütigen.
